Interventions for High Conflict Families

Presented by NTX FIT member Aaron Robb, Ph.D

  • Divorce places children at risk for emotional difficulties with the strongest predictor of child maladjustment after divorce being exposure to high levels of inter-parental conflict.
  • Parenting coordination and parenting facilitation are problem-solving interventions to help parents spare their children the pain of such conflicts.
  • The tools and techniques of PC/PF services can also be used by therapists working with parents raising children between two homes to avoid court intervention in the first place.
  • Beyond just the basics of PC/PF services, the presenters will address setting appropriate professional boundaries and defining clear professional roles when dealing with high conflict families.
